  MINECRAFT PhD SURVEY

Thanks for helping me with my research project on Minecraft and its gaming community by completing this survey!

More info about this research project can be found here: http://alexleavitt.com/minecraftphd

(This survey is not in any way associated with Mojang.)

SURVEY: WHAT AND WHY

This survey looks at how individuals play Minecraft, organize information about the game, and form relationships with the player community and game developers.

The survey is made up of multiple choice and open questions. Please add as much detail to each open answer as you can. The entire survey will take between 15 and 30 minutes to complete (depending on how fast you finish it).

I'm trying to reach as many Minecraft players as I can with this survey. Please tell your friends and fellow players about it!

(This is only 88 characters.)

WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO?

Your participation consists of a survey, and your participation is completely voluntary. You may withdraw from the study at any time without penalty. You may withdraw by closing this window or your browser. To complete the survey, you must answer every "required" question (marked with a *). You may skip the questions that are not required (though I will appreciate it if you complete every question).

You should be as truthful as possible and only complete the survey once.

CONFIDENTIALITY

The information collected from you will be confidential. If you give your name, email address, or Minecraft username, they will only be used to contact you; no personal information will be made public by me. Identifiers, such as your name and email address, will be deleted as soon as they are no longer needed and anonymous survey data will be retained indefinitely. For individuals who participate in the interview portion of the study, identifiers will be kept so that we can match your survey responses to your interview.

The research findings may be published, presented publicly, or used in future research.

WHAT’S IN IT FOR ME?

No benefits are anticipated. There is no compensation for completing the survey or participating in interviews. Only pride at helping out a cool research project about an awesome game and community of gamers. If you want, I can give you a high-five if you say Hi and mention the survey to me at PAX Prime (August 2011). Believe me, I'll be paying it forward left and right if this turns out to be a success.

If you're ready, continue to the survey below!
